Today was 5 star not for the skiing but for the adventure value !!!! With bad weather forecast we decided to attempt the trip to the other side of the valley to Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe. This meant lugging your skiing gear up and down a cable car and four trains! The journey to Wengen was great, spectatular scenery and empty trains, but we had to wait there for awhile, then three trains turn up together with not a seat to be had as every Japanese tourist in Europe had decided to make the trip and I'm surprised the train made it with the weight of digital camera's !Sadley on reaching the top you could not see your hand in front of your face and it was v.windy !!! We quickly decended the sunshine of Eigergletsher for our picnic lunch and then decided to ski into Grindelwald to catch the Mannlichn cable car out and back to Wengen - big mistake !!!!!! So after several attempts to find our way, there is a complete lack of piste markers and signs , Mag and Dan went one way and Rob and I went another after a few crossed words !!! but after abit of walking and a mega run (we skied all the way and did'nt see another soul)luckily we all met up at the Holzer Hotel, still short of Grindelwald having run out of snow !!!After admiting I was wrong and making up we had to find our way back to Murren - no mean feat !!! So after a bus, four trains and a cable car we managed to make it to our hotel, completely knackered but in time for dinner and all covered by our lift pass !!! the Swiss railway service is fantastic - we might take it easy tomorrow !!!
